Commitment

  • +/- 20 days per year
  • +/- 5 in-person meetings (in Luxembourg/European capitals, and periodic diligence meetings in portfolio region) plus ad hoc meetings and discussions as needed, preparation, follow-up, ad hoc tasks
  • Willingness to make a long-term commitment to the Fund
  • Dedicate sufficient time to stay up-to-date with relevant market and regulatory developments
  • Remuneration in line with market standards for comparable roles

About SANAD 

SANAD, a Luxembourg SICAV-SIF, is a blended-finance investment vehicle initiated by KfW, the German development bank. The fund provides medium- and long-term debt and equity financing to financial institutions in the Middle East and North Africa aiming to help strengthen the MSME-sector and financial market in the region.

SANAD’s investments are complemented by a Technical Assistance Facility designed to enhance impact and strengthen portfolio clients.


About the Board role

To further strengthen the Board, the SANAD Board is seeking to appoint an independent Non-Executive Director (iNED) to assist:

  • enhance the range of skills, expertise, experience and knowledge on the Board
  • supporting the Fund’s long-term missions via strategic leadership;
  • contribute to serving the interests of stakeholders, bringing independent judgment to Board deliberations such as issues of strategy, competitive positioning, performance, risk assessment and oversight
  • ensure constructive challenge, oversight and guidance to the AIFM and other service providers
  • help oversee financial controls, risk management, and governance frameworks to ensure operational resilience
  • oversee the effectiveness of the Company’s governance framework and compliance with relevant regulatory requirements;


Core expertise required

  • Leadership experience via Board and/or senior management roles
  • Strategic and commercial acumen
  • Understanding of investment management and fund structures, including Luxembourg regulatory frameworks for Funds
  • Understanding of risk management
  • Investment committee, portfolio-and risk management exposure in a venture capital, private equity or similar environment, in order to assist with strategy, oversight and related risk parameters;
  • Ability to identify appropriate performance metrics, and monitor AIFM performance
  • English language fluency
  • Additional expertise and soft skills valued
  • Digital & cybersecurity literacy and a commitment to continuous learning and development.
  • Strong values, standards, integrity, independence;
  • ESG and impact investing expertise or exposure;
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder-engagement;
  • Global perspectives with prior exposure to international markets, sectors and cultures, ideally also in the target regions
  • Collaborative mindset, ability to work effectively in diverse teams
